The Hot Crossie

It’s the viral croissant-crookie trend but we’re using hot cross buns instead. The Crookie is a hybrid of half croissant, half chocolate chip cookie. Move over Crookie, the Hot Crossie is in town for Easter! Hot cross buns are loaded with cookie dough, then baked. It’s so easy and only uses 2 ingredients!

Ingredients

  • hot cross buns 6 (halved)
  • chocolate chip cookie dough 300 g (sliced)

Method

  • Take the cookie dough out of the fridge and allow it to come to room temperature so that it softens and is easier to use. Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan.
  • Slice each hot cross bun in half, ensuring not to cut all the way through.
  • Cut the cookie dough into 12 slices (keep 6 slices aside for the topping) then place each slice inside the hot cross buns.
  • Pop one of the reserved slices of cookie dough on the top of each hot cross bun.
  • Pop the loaded hot cross buns onto a baking tray and bake in the oven for 10 - 15 minutes, until the cookie dough is baked.
  • Plate up your Hot Crossies and enjoy!
