Air Fryer Chicken Wings

If I hadn’t followed the path of a potato obsession, I think I may have gone for chicken wings. I love how versatile they are. A different sauce or flavour topping and you’ve got a whole different dish each time. Like potatoes, you can get messy with them, dunk them, lick your fingers and eat endless amounts. That’s the food I’m down for. Wings in the air fryer make sense because it’s efficient, there’s no mess and the results are just how you’d want your wings to turn out. Ingredients

  • garlic cloves 6 (crushed)
  • fresh parsley 15 g (chopped)
  • butter 150 g
  • homebake baguette 1
  • plain flour 200 g
  • smoked paprika 1 tsp
  • garlic powder 1 tsp
  • ground coriander 1 tsp
  • cayenne pepper 1 tsp
  • chicken wings 1 kg

Method

Preheat the air fryer

  • Preheat the air fryer to 200°C.

Prep the garlic bread

  • To make the garlic bread - peel and crush the garlic cloves. Finely chop the fresh parsley.
  • Cream the butter with a fork, add the garlic and parsley and mix until smooth, season to taste with salt and pepper (you can use a food processor for this step).
  • Cut the slices along the length of the baguette, cutting only about two-thirds of the way through to keep the baguette from falling apart.
  • Spread the butter evenly into gaps. Wrap the baguette in foil.

Cook the garlic bread

  • To cook the garlic bread - place the baguette in the air fryer basket and cook for 15 minutes. Keep warm once cooked.

Prep the chicken wings

  • While the garlic bread is cooking prep the chicken wings - in a large bowl combine the plain flour, smoked paprika, garlic powder, ground coriander, cayenne pepper and season with salt.
  • Place the wings into the bowl and toss well to cover each wing.

Cook the chicken wings

  • If you have two drawers in your air fryer, you can start cooking your wings while the garlic bread is cooking.
  • To cook the wings - spray the air fryer basket with some oil. Dust off any excess flour off the wings. Drop the temperature to 190°C.
  • Place the wings in the air fryer basket, leaving some space between each piece. It’ is best to do in smaller batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Cook for 15 minutes until golden and cooked through (75°C).

Plate up

  • Serve the chicken wings with the garlic bread and your favourite sauce. Enjoy!
