Ingredients

  • fries 750 g
  • Chinese 5 spice 1 tsp
  • salt ½ tsp
  • black pepper ½ tsp
  • chicken thighs 400 g (chopped)
  • onion 1 (chopped)
  • bell pepper 2 (chopped)
  • cornflour 1 tbsp
  • garlic granules 2 tsp
  • red chillies 1 (sliced)

Method

Cook the fries

  • Preheat the air fryer to 200°C. Add the fries to the basket and toss with the Chinese 5 Spice, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Cook 18–22 minutes, shaking halfway, until golden and crisp.

Cook the chicken & veg

  • Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces. Chop the onion and bell peppers
  • In a bowl toss the chicken with the cornflour and garlic granules. Add the chicken to the air fryer basket and drizzle with oil or cooking oil spray.
  • Air fry at 200°C for 10–12 minutes, shaking once, until golden and cooked through.
  • After 10 minutes, add the bell peppers and onion and cook for 7 minutes.

Plate Up

  • Thinly slice the red chillies (optional).
  • Pile the salt & pepper fries onto a platter, top with the chicken and veg, then scatter over the optional fresh red chilli.
