Welcoming the amazing Nisha Katona MBE to the family
Nisha Katona MBE, one of the new Great British Menu judges, shares a selection of hand picked recipes from her cookbook ‘30 Minute Mowgli’ with Plate Up.
Nisha has always been interested in the anthropology of food as a curry evangelist.
Nisha’s first book, Pimp My Rice is about the secrets to a good Indian dish and is considered a rice bible for many people. Her second cookbook, The Spice Tree displays authentic Indian recipes that can be broken down into 4 easy steps. Nisha’s third book came about as her restaurant business Mowgli was taking off, telling the tales and recipes of her restaurant. Her new cookbook, 30 Minute Mowgli, launched in November and we are very fortunate to have a selection of the top recipes on the Plate Up App.
Not only is Nisha a prolific author, she is also a fantastic TV presenter, working on many shows such as Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, ITV’s Lorraine and BBC2’s massively popular series Top of the Shop with Tom Kerridge.
You can watch Nisha cook her one-pot chicken biryani straight from the 30 Minute Mowgli cookbook on This Morning:

They specialise in Indian home cooking, moving away from the traditional British curry house.
Nisha and her restaurants have won numerous awards including the Business of the Year at City of Liverpool Business Awards, Entrepreneur of the Year, the Emerging Brand Award and many more. Nisha was also given an MBE in 2019 for her services to the Food Industry.
