Welcoming the sensational Cyrus Todiwala to the family
Among his many talents, Cyrus Todiwala is a chef, author, educator, and entrepreneur. He is a co-patron of Café Spice Namaste which is the longest-running Michelin BIB restaurant in the world.
Arriving in London from Bombay, India in the early 1990s, his culinary imagination and boundless enthusiasm, helped reshape British expectations of Indian food, impressing the food cognition and inspiring generations of Indian chefs.
Cyrus is a pioneer as well as an innovator as he is an ardent proponent of education and training, sustainability, green living, reducing waste, healthy eating and social responsibility. Through his works, he has won several environmental awards including the Sustainability Champion award from the London Chamber of Commerce/Corporation of London.
Cyrus has devoted much of his time and energy to missions he and his wife and business partner Pervin believe in keeping with the Parsee ethos of philanthropy. Their collaboration with the Master Chefs of Great Britain to develop Zest Quest Asia, a student chef competition. In its eighth year, Zest Quest Asia allows students to gain an understanding and appreciation of classical Asian cuisine and raise its profile as a potential future career.
Cyrus has written 6 cookbooks, among them is ‘Simple Spice’. Though his latest book Simple Spice Vegetarian was published in March 2020.
As well as frequently appearing on BBC Saturday Kitchen and BBC 4 Food Programme, Cyrus won the BBC Food Personality of the Year award in 2014. He also won Channel 4's Snackmasters competition in 2021.
Besides his MBE for his achievements in education and training, Cyrus also holds an OBE in the hospitality and catering industry.
