Chefs are increasingly becoming more than just cooks. They are artists, authors, and innovators. They are the ones who introduce new food trends and help us find healthy cooking alternatives. In this blog, we will be talking about Veganuary.
Vegan Month is a month-long event in November that promotes veganism by highlighting the need for people to find ways to reduce their consumption of animal products, both through diet and lifestyle. Veganuary takes this event to another level, it’s a non-profit organisation which promotes and encourages people and businesses alike to try going vegan in the month of January and beyond.
There are many reasons why you might be thinking about trying veganism. Maybe you're interested in animal rights and want to help make the world a better place for animals. Perhaps you have concerns about what the meat industry is doing to our planet, or you're worried about your health. Or maybe you just think being vegan sounds like an interesting challenge that will spur some new adventures, all of which Veganuary proudly advocates. Not only will you get the motivation for taking part but you’ll also get access and ideas to a plethora of vegan recipes and eating guides. This month celebrate world vegan month with Veganuary. Let’s look at some of the recipes Veganuary has to offer.
Quick Nutty Toast and Fruity Almond Yoghurt
Let’s start off with breakfast. The first day of change will always be one of the hardest, you’ll have to learn to adjust and sometimes you might even forget that you’ve become vegan! This breakfast recipe is perfect because you won’t even realise the difference, making you feel more at ease and at home. The recipe contains apples, strawberries, pumpkin seeds and uses almond yoghurt as well as almond butter. Everything is then served with a slice of whole-wheat bread. This breakfast is great for a morning energy boost; the almond butter is high in protein while the almond yoghurt is a good source of healthy fat. What are you waiting for? Let’s make some tasty vegan food!
Simple Red Lentil and Butternut Squash Soup
It’s no surprise that Veganuary has taken it upon themselves to create warm soup dishes since Vegan month takes place in November, it’s getting a lot chillier. With this recipe you can warm yourself right up. A soup-er easy dinner to make! Just add all the ingredients to a pot and cook, then blend once slightly cooled down. It’s great for all your busy bodies out there, you can whip this up in no time at all. As well as red lentils and butternut squash, the soup is filled with amazing spices such as turmeric and ground ginger and a little chilli powder to give it that kick. This recipe can certainly be enjoyed by vegans and non-vegans alike. This is why Veganuary is so great at doing what they do, their idea is that being vegan can be accessible for everyone and they really do prove that with their recipes.
Veggie Pitta Bread Pizza with Salad
Why would you order a takeaway when you can make it yourself and be healthier? This recipe is a healthier alternative to your usual pizza take away, this recipe uses courgette, butternut squash, leek, and aubergine. However, feel free to substitute for your favourite vegetables! It also uses vegan cheese, many people don’t realise how many vegan alternatives there are out there available to them, good thing we have Veganuary to highlight them! No one should have to feel like they're missing out on great food, because let’s be honest pizza is one of the greatest. Not only is the pizza delicious to eat but it’s also healthy, giving you all the enjoyment but with less of the guilt!
