6 Recipes Perfect for Bonfire Night

Remember, remember the 5th of November. Bonfire night is a traditional celebration, which originated in the United Kingdom. It is celebrated on November 5th annually, to commemorate the failed plot of 1605 by Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London. It's also known as "Guy Fawkes night" or "bonfire night".

The event originated in Great Britain, but has spread into other parts of the world with British influence. The day commemorates the discovery of Guy Fawkes' explosives under the House of Lords, during an investigation into his involvement in a plot to blow up parliament on 5 November 1605. The holiday is typically celebrated with fireworks and bonfires.

For me personally growing up, celebrations of bonfire nights in London usually took place in a local park where there would be a whole fireworks show for the entire night. They would even get an effigy of Guy Fawkes which would then be burned!

For every event, one needs great event food ideas. Guy Fawkes night is a really unique event which calls for truly unique dishes, here is a list we came up with below. All recipes can be found on the Plate Up app!

Vegan Courgette Lasange | Vegan Fuel | Bonfire Night

Another great way to serve food in bulk, this recipe is from Vegan Fuel. Lasagne is one of those dishes where everyone has a good helping of, no one has to stay out of this one even if they are on a diet because this one is made to be healthy, replacing meat with smoked tofu and the lasagne pasta with courgettes. It’s amazing to have, especially in the chilly month of November. In my opinion, part of the reason courgettes are so underrated is because many people have no idea how to deal with them. And, to be honest, they are not the easiest ingredient to work with since they don’t taste of much. But - when paired with the right flavours and ingredients - they become delicious!
